Steal These NYFW Beauty Trends

Pati Dubroff tells us which trends to try

Trying the trends you see on the runway at New York Fashion Week can sometimes land you in a bit of hot water. (Apparently sheer shirts with no bra underneath are frowned upon in the workplace – oops.)

But there are some fashion week fads that are totally doable. Beauty trends, in particular, are super easy to pull off with a little bit of guidance. We consulted with beauty guru and makeup artist to the stars, Pati Dubroff, who has glammed up the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Bosworth, Naomi Watts, Jessica Biel, Miley Cyrus, Eva Mendes, Julianne Moore, and Gisele Bündchen. Pati gave us the 411 on all the trends seen on the catwalk at New York Fashion Week’s Fall/Winter 2014 shows. Here are the looks Pati said are worth taking off the runway.

Deep Dark Lips
“This is a trend that everyone loves to revisit. It instantly adds chic and polish to any look. If you’re using a saturated lipstick, it might be too intense, but the look is totally doable when using a sheer stain. Some of my favorite stains are: Serge Lutens Water Lip Color, Pati Dubroff Aqua Tint in Violet, and Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Plum.”

Bold Brows
“Strong brows add strength to an otherwise natural face. It can add levels of intensity and masculinity. To make the brow strong but not overwhelming, use a color (pencil or powder) that is closest to the lightest shade in your hair.”

Color Around the Eye
“This was one of my favorite NYFW looks. I loved seeing greens, blues, and even soft pinks used on the eye area! Wearing color can be tricky for anyone who is not still 20-years-old. I like to add just a hint by first using a neutral shade (brown, taupe, gray) to give the eye definition, then adding a pop of color just at the center of the lash line. Pati Dubroff Spotlight Palette has some great colors and neutrals in order to achieve this full look.”
