Looks for the new season

by Katie McBroom of Martinis and Mascara

Spring is in the air, so it’s time to switch up your makeup wardrobe and refresh your beauty cabinet! Tuck your wine-hued lipstick away for a minute and try the new shades of the season. Read on for the essentials you need to create the perfect spring look.

An orange pout
Gone are the days when light pink was the only spring-appropriate lip color. Spring 2014 calls for bright orange lips and I am all for it! I think Lime Crime lippies are perfect for the season. The My Beautiful Rocket shade is an opaque true orange. Not ready to go so bold? Opt for a coral pink, which is still springy but a little more traditional.

Colorful lids
Bright blue lids are in for spring. Get this effect effortlessly by sweeping on a shade like MAC eye shadow in Freshwater or Make Up For Ever eye shadow in Iridescent True Blue. For a more subtle pop of blue, I love wearing CoverGirl Liquiline Blast Eyeliner in Blue Boom on my waterline.

A rosy flush
I’m living for Clinique’s Cheek Pop blush. All four shades are beautiful, but I think applying the Berry Pop shade creates that coveted springtime glow perfectly. It’s vibrant, but the formula feels sheer and looks powderless.

Floral fingernails
Nail art is here to stay for spring! If you need a little help in the decorative fingertips department, Ciaté makes a really cool Flower Manicure kit that would be perfect. It comes with mini flowers that you apply and seal with polish, as well as a step-by-step guide.

A fresh finish
Finish your makeup with a light hydrating mist to get that dewy look going. Heck, while you’re at it, go ahead and spray it all over. Josie Maran’s essential oil-infused Lavender Mist keeps skin looking moisturized… and smelling fresh too!
